About the Opportunity: Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Financial & Operating Officer will be responsible for guiding the organization's long-term financial strategy and health, developing and implementing a centralized operating model, providing strategic counsel to the Executive Leadership Team, and fostering active engagement with the Board of Directors.

KEY PRIORITIES DURING YOUR FIRST YEAR

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

GUIDE THE LONG TERM FINANCIAL STRATEGY AND HEALTH OF EOS - 45%

  • Lead all finance-related functions, including budgeting (+$15M), forecasting, long-term planning, risk management, standardized financial reporting and analysis, accounting, and cash flow planning.
  • Analyze and define costs of program services and strategic investments; leveraging data and insights to steer organization towards self-sustainability. 
  • Establish, maintain, and document effective financial policies, procedures, systems, and controls. 
  • Lead the execution and delivery of annual audits – ensuring they are free of findings – in partnership with the Accounting Manager. 

DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A CENTRALIZED OPERATING MODEL - 35% 

  • Create a centralized operating model that enhances communication, integrated project management tools, establishes clear accountability structures, and optimizes organizational efficiency and resource allocation.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Operations, work with the ELT to assess, enhance, and streamline systems and practices, ensuring robust documentation and building institutional knowledge cross-functionally. 

THOUGHT-PARTNER WITH THE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM AND EMBED SYSTEMS FOR CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION - 15% 

 
  • Equip the ELT with the tools, data, analysis, and strategic insight and foresight necessary for informed decision-making, calculated risk-taking, and effective use of financial resources. 
  • Work with the Senior Director of HR to analyze talent strengths, identify opportunities and gaps, and forecast departmental budgets that align with talent needs and organizational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with departments awarded grants to ensure budgets, compliance, and reporting guidelines aligned and met. 

Foster Active Engagement with the Board of Directors - 5%

  • Provide clear, transparent financial reporting and analysis to ensure long-term self-sustainability and effective organizational governance.

TRAVEL: While this is a remote position, the CF&OO will be required to travel to headquarters in Seattle, WA a few times a year for staff retreats and board meetings.
