Key Responsibilities

As a Litigation Paralegal within our Sacramento office, you will play an essential role in supporting our Litigation Practice Group. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Calendar Management: Efficiently schedule and coordinate attorney conferences, depositions, and travel arrangements while monitoring court dates and filing requirements.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and compile documents for state and federal court filings, including discovery and mediation.
  • Mail Management: Organize incoming mail and ensure outgoing documents are processed timely according to office protocols.
  • Legal Drafting: Draft correspondence and legal documents, gather pertinent information, and prepare visual aids for court presentations.
  • File Management: Maintain both electronic and physical client files, ensuring accuracy and organization.
  • Client Interaction: Deliver exceptional service to clients and visitors, upholding confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Billing Support: Assist with time entry and review of billing documents as needed.
  • Continuing Education Tracking: Monitor attorney MCLE hours and related requirements annually.
  • Team Collaboration: Support fellow team members by taking on additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills

We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with document management systems.
  • Strong drafting and proofreading capabilities alongside excellent client-focused communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of court procedures and e-filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF, EEOC Portal).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently and effectively.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various projects and assignments independently.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a legal secretary, with a focus on civil litigation and knowledge of both state and federal filing requirements.
  • Relevant paralegal certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
