Job Title: Accounting Staff - Remote | Work From Home

Job Overview

We are in search of a committed Accounting & HR Assistant to join our esteemed nonprofit organization, dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. This fully remote role provides the opportunity to work closely with our Director of Finance and HR, contributing to meaningful financial operations while enjoying the flexibility of a home-based working environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal position, you will:

  • Manage Accounts Payable processes, including vendor maintenance and W9 handling.
  • Ensure the precise processing of scholarship payments to educational institutions, including verification calls when necessary.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable by generating invoices, preparing past-due reports, and managing collections.
  • Utilize Intacct accounting software to process all receivables.
  • Issue tax acknowledgment documents to donors.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Process staff expense reports and reimbursements, while maintaining organized records of credit card receipts.
  • Handle in-kind inventory management and its distribution.
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned by the Director of Finance & HR or CEO.

Required Skills

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Strong proficiency in Intacct or comparable accounting software.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A solid foundation in finance, accounting, and bookkeeping practices.
  • The capability to effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, ideally in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience is essential.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct accounting software is highly preferred.
