Job description

Job Overview

We are in search of a dedicated and empathetic School-Based Occupational Therapist to join our team, delivering essential therapeutic services to school-aged children who face challenges related to fine motor skills, visual motor skills, and sensory processing. This remote role allows you to positively impact the lives of students with documented motor or sensory impairments, qualifying them for support through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employ your clinical expertise to assess and address fine motor skills, visual motor skills, and sensory processing challenges.
  • Conduct thorough assessments for new referrals as well as three-year re-evaluations.
  • Collaborate effectively with educational professionals to ascertain student eligibility for services.
  • Provide direct therapeutic instruction and compensatory strategies to empower students.
  • Maintain precise and timely treatment documentation and progress reports in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Keep a comprehensive log of services delivered and any instances of absence.

Required Skills

  • Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong comprehension of legal and ethical responsibilities within educational environments.
  • Capacity to engage collaboratively with students, their families, and fellow professionals.
  • Cultural awareness, particularly in how cultural differences may influence fine motor and sensory skills.
  • Competence in utilizing Microsoft and Google applications, alongside maintaining precise service records as per regulations.
  • Customer service-oriented approach with a commitment to professionalism.
  • Experience in delivering virtual therapy services through online platforms.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Active CPR/First Aid/AED certification for all age groups.
  • Ability to successfully complete background checks, health screenings, and furnish current immunizations (TB).
  • Valid California Board License or CTC Rehabilitation Certificate, with compliance to continuing education mandates.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (exemption for virtual providers).
  • Willingness to travel to school sites and clinics as necessary (exemption for virtual providers).
