Position Overview:

Advance your career as a Property Accountant. Be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing tenant billing, conducting variance analyses, and ensuring compliance with property agreements. This role is remote for anyone living in CT, NY, PA or NJ (can be hybrid if near the office).


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages, including supporting schedules, variance analysis, and executive summaries.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with leases and property operating agreements.
  • Enter and manage new leases, renewals, and expansions in the accounting system.
  • Manage the billing of tenant rental fees and address tenant inquiries regarding billing, collaborating with asset managers to resolve issues.
  • Actively evaluate weekly cash needs and request funding when needed.
  • Ensure timely payments of mortgages and escrow accounts.
  • Complete and submit lender reporting accurately and on time.
  • Complete reconciliations and prepare monthly cash flow distribution analyses.
  • Coordinate with development partners on reconciliations and budget tracking for properties under development.
  • Record transactions, adjustments, and depreciation for tax purposes.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or public accounting.
  • Attention to Detail and Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to ensure accuracy in financial statements, variance analysis, and reporting, and identify discrepancies and interpret complex financial data.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software: Experience using accounting software like QuickBooks, Yardi or another.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work with property managers, tenants, and asset management teams to resolve billing issues and ensure compliance with agreements.
