Job description

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in accounting to join our accounting department. We are hiring a Senior Accountant that will be comprised of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities as well as be involved in various projects and initiatives that aid in the overall accuracy and integrity of the financial statements of GrowthZone. Reporting to our Controller, you will be responsible for all accounts payable actions. Additional experience includes supporting internal customers, strong communication skills and analytical experience, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and manage to deadlines. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years progressive experience in an accounting role, have previous experience with reading and interpreting contracts, and have experience with ASC 606.

A typical day for this position involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in various accounting tasks. You will be asked to assist in driving efficiency and improvements within our processes and systems, monthly close procedures, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded performer who thrives in a fast-paced and demanding environment, embraces a collaborative work style and possesses a customer and operations focus. Other tasks include assisting in developing and implementing processes and systems that shorten close timelines. As part of a small accounting team, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day financial operations of GrowthZone.

After one year, you’ll know you were successful if:

  • You can accurately assist the Controller in completing month-end duties including, journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
  • You can manage workload to complete all activities accurately and within established timeframes and month-end deadlines.
  • You can enhance documentation, reconciliation schedules, and analyses that support strong internal control environment.
  • You can perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
