Quality Assurance Engineer for AP1000 Project Quality Programs (REMOTE)

This is a remote position.

No relocation will be provided for this position. No sponsorship is available for this position.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for specific activities related to the establishment, effective implementation, and maintenance of the Westinghouse Quality Management System, including Project Quality Plans and implementing procedures. Additional responsibilities may include oversight of specific project activities, including design control, control of external providers, and construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans and project procedures for AP1000 projects.
  • Assure project team is adequately trained on project requirements and implementing procedures
  • Work closely with engineering, supply chain, and project management to support AP1000 projects
  • Maintain compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Management System for project execution.
  • Promote, nurture, and assure a mature and healthy Nuclear Safety Culture and Safety Conscious Work Environment.
  • Drive safe, error free performance through active use and promotion of Human Performance tools and organizational learning.
  • Communicate and implement quality assurance best practices through continuous improvement.
  • Ensure rigorous programmatic oversight of specified activities.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to quality problems, thorough corrective and preventive actions, and ensure solutions are communicated and implemented to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective change management, keeping clear and open lines of communication with other Quality organizations, leadership, regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers, as appropriate.
  • Interface with other intercompany Quality organizations to support audits, ensure compliance, process consistency and to share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Represent and support the AP1000 program in external (customer or regulatory) quality audits and inspections.
  • Monitor quality metrics, conduct data analysis, and prepare and present reports related to Quality performance.

Education

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • BS degree or equivalent (preferably engineering / technical)

Experience

  • 5 or more years of nuclear quality assurance experience

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance regulations, codes, and standards including:
  • ISO 9001 and 19443Working knowledge of U.S. commercial nuclear power regulations, e.g., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ASME Section III B&PV Code, ANSI, 10CFR21, and comparable international regulations
  • Experience in the application of Nuclear Safety Culture and Human Performance principles
  • Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and testing work processes, general business acumen.

Abilities

  • Excellent communications skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally ~10%
