Job description

Job Title: Clinical Consultant for Intellectual Disabilities (Remote with Travel)

Location: Remote, with travel to designated regions

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM

Travel Expectations: Regular travel within assigned counties approximately 1-2 times per month, alongside statewide travel around 3-5 times per year. Additional travel for field meetings may also be required.

Service Area: Berks, Bradford/Sullivan, Carbon/Monroe/Pike, Lehigh, Luzerne/Wyoming, Northampton, Schuylkill, Susquehanna/Lackawanna, Tioga, Wayne

Compensation: $89,440 annually

Overview

We are on the lookout for a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Consultant to provide support to individuals facing intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges in community settings. This role is essential in ensuring that those we serve receive exceptional quality of care and support tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expert Guidance: Deliver expert counsel to service providers, mental health organizations, and other stakeholders, ensuring the adoption of best practices and effective treatment strategies for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues.
  • Transition Support: Assist individuals in successful transitions into community environments and promote their ongoing success by aiding care teams with thorough planning, particularly for those exhibiting challenging behaviors or significant mental health concerns.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Evaluate monthly reports and behavioral incidents to identify high-risk individuals and devise strategies to prevent future challenges. Prepare documentation for quality management teams.
  • Risk Management: Partner with care teams to create and implement risk management plans, emphasizing the reduction of behavioral incidents and the necessity for restrictive interventions.
  • Training Development: Design and deliver training initiatives aimed at enhancing the skill sets of caregivers and professionals supporting individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges. Connect teams with relevant community resources.
  • Field Support: Conduct in-person visits to individuals and their support teams to ensure adherence to care plans and provide direct support as needed.
  • Collaborative Expertise: Collaborate closely with other professionals, stay current with the latest best practices, and contribute to policy development to ensure services align with contemporary research and trends in mental health and intellectual disabilities.
  • Additional Contributions: Engage in committee meetings, support quality and risk management initiatives, and undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in human services (psychology, nursing, social work, or a related field) with a minimum of six years of experience working with individuals of all ages with intellectual disabilities, autism, and mental health issues, including those with challenging behaviors.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania's Positive Practices/Approaches and the Recovery Model frameworks.
  • Proven experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders to advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data concerning quality and risk management to enhance care and services.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Capacity and willingness to travel and spend time in the field.
