We're seeking a seasoned Analytics Engineer to join our Data Platform team at Secret Escapes.

This is a remote working patern opportunity based in Poland.

The Role:

As a Lead Analytics Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing and mentoring a small but impactful team of analytics engineers while also contributing directly to the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure.

Things you will be working on:

  • Analytics Engineering Representative: You will stand as the main representative of the Analytics Engineering team. This will include working with other tech leads, defining code practices, infrastructure/tooling choices and ways of working.
  • Team Leadership: Managing and overseeing the work of two other analytics engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and ensuring their professional development. You will also be parachuted into projects to support a data technical implementation lead.
  • Data Modeling and Engineering: Designing, implementing, and optimising data models and pipelines to support various analytical use cases, including trading performance, customer behaviour, and room availability.
  • BI Tool Integration: Collecting and creating requirements with our BI team to improve and develop our Tableau and dbt environments, developing schemas, aggregations, and data models.
  • Data Quality and Governance: Ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaising with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Work with other tech teams around the group to support data related projects.
  • Innovation: Identifying opportunities to improve our analytical capabilities and processes, suggesting new ideas, and challenging the status quo.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to fellow analytics engineers.
  • Assign tasks, review work, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Data Modeling and Engineering: Develop and maintain data marts and analytical functions in Tableau and SQL.
  • Strong understanding of business logic and how that is translated/accommodated for in our data transformations
  • Build and optimise data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into our data warehouse.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency through appropriate validation and testing.
  • Developing and maintaining our dbt infrastructure and strategy
  • Supporting other tech leads also achieve their goals

Data Integration & Governance

  • Collaborate with the teams around the business to integrate and configure BI tools.
  • Develop schemas, aggregations, and data models to support BI reporting and analysis.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards and guidelines.
  • Implement data governance processes to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Innovation:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our analytical capabilities and processes.
  • Suggest new ideas and solutions to address business challenges.


You will bring:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modelling techniques.
  • Experience with data transformation tools (eg. dbt), best practices, environment management.
  • Knowledge of BI tools (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI).
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Proficient with Python (experience with data packages such as Pandas, NumPy etc)
  • Some experience with Airflow or comparable orchestration tools as well as with data governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Some knowledge of cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS, GCP, Azure).

And you are:

  • Experienced in managing a team of data professionals.
  • Excellent in communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Abile to work independently and as part of a team.
