Lawhive is an online platform for consumers and small businesses to get legal help for a fraction of the cost of a law firm. Our platform combines regulated human lawyers collaborating alongside the world’s first AI lawyer specifically built for consumer legal work. Equal access to the law is one of the biggest and most pressing unsolved problems in society today. We’re passionate about levelling the playing field and believe access to the law should be a basic utility in society. Our AI lawyer Lawrence is built on top of our own fine tuned LLM and recently passed the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE). The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Payment Operations Associate to join our world-class customer operations team. This role plays a crucial part in overseeing and enhancing our payment procedures, guaranteeing adherence to regulations, and streamlining our financial operations and customer satisfaction.

This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and an understanding of risk based approaches. The ideal candidate has a legal background, prior experience working in startups, and has strong skills in creatively building and improving processes.

What the job involves
  • Payment Processing: Oversee daily payment operations, including processing client and office payments, invoices, managing client account balances, handling disbursements, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for client and office accounts.
  • Compliance and Legal: Ensure all payment processes comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Work with legal teams to address any issues related to payment operations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in payment processes and implement creative solutions to enhance efficiency and client and lawyer experience.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on payment operations, including performance metrics, and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with clients regarding their accounts and resolve any queries or discrepancies.
  • Ownership and Initiative: Take ownership of payment operations projects and initiatives, driving them from conception to execution.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a fast paced startup environment.
  • Previous experience in fintech or with payment processes.
  • Legal background and knowledge of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules is a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude.
