As a Bookkeeper for this forward-thinking startup, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and managing their financial infrastructure. This position offers the exciting challenge of establishing QuickBooks accounts, creating a chart of accounts, and implementing efficient AP workflows. You’ll work directly with experienced leadership, including a former nonprofit CFO, to create scalable financial systems. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact, potentially growing with the company as it expands and requires more sophisticated financial operations.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and manage QuickBooks, establishing a comprehensive chart of accounts
  • Implement and oversee accounts payable processes, with a focus on credit card transactions
  • Collaborate with leadership to create efficient financial workflows using tools like Bill.com or Rippling Spend
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and assist with tax payment procedures
  • Support the transition from basic bookkeeping to more complex financial operations as the company grows
  • Assist in preparing the company for potential future audits and investor reporting
  • Adapt workload and responsibilities as the company scales, potentially reducing hours after initial setup


Requirements

  • Proven expertise in QuickBooks, particularly in setting up new company accounts
  • Experience with vendor payment systems like Bill.com
  • Strong knowledge of AP processes, especially those utilizing credit cards
  • Familiarity with payroll systems, preferably Rippling
  • Demonstrated experience in for-profit sector bookkeeping
  • Excellent remote work skills and ability to communicate effectively with a small team
  • Adaptability to evolving business needs and changing workloads
  • Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week initially, with flexibility to adjust as needed
