Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Junior Database Engineer to join our expanding team in a fully remote capacity. This role is tailored for individuals with a foundational grasp of database architecture who are keen to develop their skills in a fast-paced environment. As a Junior Database Engineer, you will collaborate closely with seasoned architects in designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems, while benefiting from invaluable mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior architects in the design and development of database architectures.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of database systems, ensuring effective backup processes, indexing, and the establishment of stored procedures, tables, views, and user-defined functions (UDFs).
  • Engage with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to collect and analyze requirements for both existing systems and new feature enhancements.
  • Assist in optimizing database performance and scalability, ensuring high reliability and availability.
  • Contribute to maintaining data integrity and security by supporting secure database configurations, including encryption and access control measures.
  • Document processes meticulously, including database schemas, entity-relationship diagrams, and data dictionaries.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends and best practices regarding database architecture.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of database architecture principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • General experience with creating and updating SQL stored procedures, jobs, views, tables, and UDFs.
  • Familiarity with implementing database backups, encryption, and identity access management (IAM) configurations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • A strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
