POSITION TITLE: Senior DevOps Engineer

BUSINESS UNIT: Engineering

LOCATION: LATAM or Eastern Europe Remote

We are looking for a dedicated professional for a long-term contractor position based outside of the United States, ideally in LATAM or Eastern Europe. This is a freelance/contractor role, depending on local employment laws, without benefits such as healthcare or paid time off, but with the potential for a stable, ongoing working relationship. Ideal for candidates seeking consistent, project-based work with a focus on long-term collaboration.

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll partner with the platform team to bring to life tooling and automation that power our production services and the development cycle. You’ll shape areas like infrastructure orchestration, continuous integration, security, configuration/change management, and participate in incident management. With a passion for innovation and an instinct for reliability and scalability, you’ll automate yourself out of manual and repetitive tasks. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deploy and maintain performant and secure applications in a multi-cluster Kubernetes environment
  • Increase visibility into our platform through automation, infrastructure-as-code, and effective monitoring and alerting
  • Create and maintain CICD pipelines to increase the quality and velocity of deployments
  • Build internal tools to increase developer productivity and grow our DevOps culture
  • Collaborate with the platform team to ensure our infrastructure supports new functionality and validate their scalability, reliability, and security requirements
  • Utilize great debugging skills to investigate and solve hard-to-reproduce problems
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure stellar uptime for our customers
  • Analyze the current infrastructure to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Drive architecture, infrastructure, and security best practices
  • Create and maintain documentation of all architecture design and analysis work

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) exercising DevOps principles, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful infrastructure management
  • Experience maintaining highly available production services with a distributed architecture
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, security, and memory management fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of document-based and SQL databases
  • Experience with major cloud providers like GCP and AWS
  • Experience building and maintaining pipelines with CICD tools like Codefresh, GitHub Actions or CircleCI
  • Experience with monitoring services and tools like Datadog, NewRelic, Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to rapidly troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • The ability to explain your ideas clearly, give and receive feedback, and work well with team members
  • Ability to rapidly iterate from prototype to production-grade implementation
  • Prior experience working in an agile development environment
  • Pride in the craft of DevOps, your unique views, and original ideas

BONUS SKILLS:

  • CKA[D] certification
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with large-scale, cross-cloud provider migrations
  • Experience managing an ELK stack
  • Familiarity with Google Firebase
