The Company:
With deep expertise in chemistry, Nuvalent is working to create selective medicines designed with the goal to address the needs of patients with cancer.  Nuvalent is an exciting early-stage company, bringing together experienced scientists and industry veterans with a proven track record in drug discovery, oncology drug development, and company building. 

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, the Senior Director, Human Resources will be a critical member of the HR team and directly support the planning, build and integration of our first commercial organization.  This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to effectively partner with senior members of the commercial leadership team to drive the strategy of the organization build while also rolling up your sleeves and developing the processes & programs to support the team. In addition, the Sr. Director, Human Resources will be responsible for a wide range of initiatives including talent management, employee engagement, performance management, organizational development all while establishing trust and credibility by applying creative solutions that support our culture.  This is a primarily remote position with the exception of in-office participation and applicable travel as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and expertise on both strategic and tactical HR matters for the organization with direct HRBP support of the commercial organization
  • Represent the Human Resources function on the Launch Readiness Team (LRT); supporting the initiatives required for a successful launch of our multi-product portfolio
  • Advise and counsel employees and managers in areas such as organizational development, talent and career development, performance management, compensation, coaching, employee engagement and retention, headcount planning, recognition programs, etc.
  • Actively participates in the recruitment and retention of talent; act as project lead for commercial organizational build
  • Drive culture building initiatives across teams; focusing on evolving the work environment in a positive and productive manner to support changing business needs
  • Establish credibility and trust throughout the organization and is a valuable partner and coach for all employees
  • Partner with employees and managers at all levels to address and resolve employee relations matters in an effective and efficient manner
  • In partnership with the HR team, interpret and implement HR policies, procedures, programs and initiatives across the organization; recommend continual improvements as needed

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of human resource experience, specifically supporting a biotech organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with supporting commercial teams required; direct experience supporting a launch and/or expansion of commercial teams a plus
  • Ability to influence at all levels with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and facilitation communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information 
  • Experience developing and executing HR processes and programs
  • Operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Strong commitment to compliance and ethical standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20%, potentially more during peak business needs
