Data Scientist, Risk

We are seeking a Data Scientist, Risk specializing in risk analysis to join our fast-growing scaleup. In this role, you will work closely with the data and risk teams to develop insights that drive business decisions. Your primary focus will be on using data to help identify, quantify, and mitigate various types of risks. If you have a strong foundation in data analysis using SQL and Python, some understanding of data engineering, and are motivated to grow quickly in your career, this is the role for you!

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, process, and analyze data related to risk.
• Use SQL to extract and manipulate data from various databases.
• Develop and implement risk models using Python to assess potential business risks.
• Support the team in identifying trends and patterns in large datasets to aid in risk mitigation strategies.
• Assist in preparing visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Work with data engineers to ensure data pipelines and databases are efficient and meet the needs of risk analyses.
• Participate in regular team meetings to review progress and refine data-driven risk management strategies.
• Show initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced, startup environment, where priorities can shift quickly.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and querying.
• Experience with Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
• Basic understanding of statistical concepts and their application in risk analysis.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Some exposure to or interest in data engineering concepts (e.g., data pipelines, ETL processes).
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision in a startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a quantitative field, economics, business, engineering, or equivalent
• 3-5 years of experience in data science or risk analysis.
• Experience working with risk-related data in industries such as finance, insurance, or healthcare is a bonus but not required
