Job description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director supports institutional effectiveness and success. Reporting to the Associate Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the Assistant Director fulfills Institutional Research requests and manages the flow of institutional research data. The Assistant Director complies with internal and external reporting demands, administering and analyzing surveys and other assessment instruments. They will complete historic reports and lead new research projects by analyzing institutional data through various tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in compiling, manipulating, and maintaining institutional data.
  • Works with University data to develop complex reports, considering report format, design, and use of visuals when communicating with various audiences. 
  • Collaboratively serves and leads as assigned on University committees.
  • Maintains the University Common Data Set and manages required internal data to prepare a variety of College Guidebook and rankings profiles, such as US News Best Colleges, College Board’s Annual Survey of College, Princeton Review, and Petersons.
  • Serve as a member of the Institutional Assessment Advisory Council 
  • Facilitate the administration of student surveys.
  • Work with University data to respond to various ad hoc requests and monitor request progress.
  • Enhance and maintain the University Data Inventory.
  • Maintain University Dashboards
  • Create and publish University Data Bytes via Canva.
  • Serve as a campus resource and Program Reviewer for Institutional Assessment software.
  • Maintain integrity when working with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Minimally perform Registrar related tasks as needed for cross training between offices. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to complete multiple IPEDs survey components.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc.).
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems Platforms
  • Ability to create and present data dashboards.
  • Knowledge of the IRB process and how to write and submit proposals.
  • Ability to work with multiple communication methods, prepare data reports, and present reports to various levels of seniority.
  • Uncompromising attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Colleague Student Information System.
  • Knowledge of reporting tools such as Informer5.
  • Knowledge of Xitracs Assessment Software.
  • Familiarity with the Accreditation process and data needs.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and either an advanced degree in business, statistics, social sciences, or another relevant field or 2 years of direct experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with data reporting.
  • 3-5 years working with creating and presenting Dashboards.
  • 3-5 years working with IPEDs reporting and the ability to complete multiple survey components.
  • 3-5 years working with Student Information System Platform
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lifting twenty-five pounds or less.
