Job Description
The Product Underwriting Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of underwriters and underwriting assistants within the assigned team. This position ensures that existing products are implemented and executed based on individual state strategies as documented in the underwriting guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies strategic opportunities for growth and profitability by analyzing current procedures and guidelines.
- Works collaboratively with other departments, Product Managers and Analysts to accomplish growth and profit objectives.
- Participates in annual agent reviews with Pricing and Marketing and assists with Agency audits.
- Performs risk reviews and upfront underwriting reviews to determine risk acceptability.
- Serves as point of contact for some exceptions (UW’s, Agents, Sups, TSM, Pricing, Marketing, Etc ).
- Provides input into product decisions and procedures with significant involvement in underwriting and processing of new business and renewals.
- Communicates underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions with Pricing, Marketing, Compliance, etc. and generates ideas & facilitate automation for the Commercial product.
- Develops and analyzes both internal and external data in order to provide key input to Pricing and Marketing by analyzing the quality of agents’ business.
- Helps to determine actions needed for agent rehabilitation.
- Utilizes performance evaluation to perform underwriting audits including conducting file reviews to ensure adherence with underwriting guidelines and direction.
Education
- 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred).
Experience
- 7 or more years of experience (Preferred).

- In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation
Compensation offered for this role is $85,600.00 - 130,300.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
