About the role

We’re looking for Junior or Intermediate Claims Representatives, Casualty to join our growing team!
 

As a Claims Representative for our Casualty team, you will be responsible for investigating and settling minor or moderately complex liability claims to ensure a prompt and fair settlement. You will provide quality service and ensure prompt and equitable settlement of claims in line with Corporate policies and standards. Your natural ability to negotiate, influence, prioritize, be proactive and think creatively on your feet will help you thrive in our collaborative and energetic culture.

NOTE: The level of role offered will be determined based on skills, experience and education.

This position can be based in any of the following Atlantic offices: Dartmouth NS, Dieppe NB or St. John’s NL.


What you'll do here:               

  • Investigate insurance claims and work towards a prompt and fair settlement; develop action plans for conducting investigations including arranging for independent medical examinations, securing prior medical and/or employment history, determine contacts, interviews and/or other information to clarify and justify the claim.
  • Document and analyze the information gathered on a file, interpret insurance policy wordings, determine coverage, and assess damage and/or liability.
  • Collaborate with our legal team to attend court proceedings, mediations, and settlement meetings when necessary.
  • Collaborate with your peers and other teams to resolve files thoroughly and quickly.
  • Be a go-to source for queries relating to investigations and the claims process.
  • Build relationships with vendors and communicate with claims departments and liaise with adjusters, experts, management, and other claims representatives on technical and administrative issues.

What you bring to the table:

  • 2-5+ years of experience handling liability claims.
  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • Pursuing or completion of your Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • Can communicate and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing insurance from all Atlantic provinces.
