Job description

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting with, hiring, training, evaluating, rewarding, and disciplining Telehealth nursing personnel;
  • Providing staff continuing education and learning opportunities to promote tele-triage competence;
  • Providing written position descriptions that define the responsibilities and performance measurements expected of each Telehealth Nurse;
  • Ensuring that all Telehealth Nurses comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations;
  • Evaluating and ensuring quality performance of Telehealth Nurses with concurrent and retrospective monitoring of patient interactions;
  • Ensuring Telehealth nurse tasks including Telehealth follow up and Tickler lists are completed and accurately documented;
  • Planning Telehealth Nurse meetings that will support and encourage staff involvement in identifying clinical, ethical, and legal issues;
  • Functioning as a Telehealth nurse when needed, as well as responding to Nurse tags in Teams from the Telehealth PSRs, Physicians and Extenders, and NCC Nurses;
  • Assisting the Nurse Call Center with patient portal messages as needed;
  • Assisting with scheduling Telehealth Nurses and ensuring shift coverage during Telehealth hours of operation. Covering for Telehealth Nurses when staffing needs arise to include evening and weekend hours;
  • Implementing established policies and procedures as directed;
  • Collaborating with the Telehealth Manager, Physicians and Extenders, Medical Directors, and QIC to ensure Telehealth best practices.

Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Employee must be 18 years of age or older;
  • Must be a Registered Nurse;
  • Must be licensed in all states in which Patient First operates;
  • Employed by Patient First in a clinical capacity for a minimum of 2 years;
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisor experience preferred;
  • Proficient typing skills, computer knowledge, and experience with using Microsoft Office (including Teams);
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (possibly four to seven hours at a time);
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to manage a team-oriented environment that requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
