Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of R&D Operations to build and strengthen a foundation of operational excellence within our R&D organization at Momentive Software. You will drive the adoption of unified practices and tools that emphasize transparency, speed, and ambition. Through scalable processes, timely communication, and strong stakeholder engagement, you will support our ongoing growth.In this role, you will oversee a lean team of technical program managers and analysts, ensuring efficient, cross-functional collaboration across departments. You’ll manage budgeting, reporting, and continuous planning processes, ensuring visibility into key investments, risks, progress, and action plans. This role requires a highly analytical, self-motivated leader with strong coaching abilities.
A Day in the Life
- Lead a lean, high-performing team of technical program managers, analysts, and release managers.
- Develop efficient processes and adopt tools to provide visibility and reporting, enabling product, engineering, and operations teams to manage delivery effectively.
- Oversee tactical and executive-level reporting for budgeting, roadmap delivery, efficiency, accountability, quality, and security.
- Own the planning and review cadences for R&D, ensuring alignment across teams and providing relevant outputs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize R&D processes, ensuring best practices are consistently applied and deliver expected outcomes.
- Implement and manage R&D tools for portfolio management, development tracking, engineering effectiveness, and source code management.
- Manage R&D software and vendor spend, identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and maintain communication frameworks to ensure clarity across R&D and with external stakeholders.
- Partner with HR to define job descriptions, role expectations, and career paths for R&D teams.
We are looking for someone who brings
- Proven experience in a product or business operations leadership role at scale.
- 5+ years of experience managing teams.
- Strong understanding of product development processes and tools.
- Experience in a metrics-driven product organization.
- Demonstrated success in leading SDLC design, implementation, and measurement.
- Familiarity with Aha, Jira, Jellyfish, and SQL is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities, with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, product managers, business teams, and executives.
