The System Vice President of Perioperative Services is a system level leadership position that provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of Perioperative Services across CommonSpirit Health. This includes the continuum of perioperative services to include pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care and services, post-anesthesia recovery, ambulatory surgery/procedures areas, and sterile processing. Directs the provision of perioperative care in this service line while maintaining national and state standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and strategic vision to develop and operationalize standard processes related to perioperative services across the organization. Advises medical staff, department heads and administrators in matters related to perioperative services, strategies, and operations.
  • Drives standardization and reduces clinical variation, where possible, to ensure high quality care and services, compliance with regulatory standards and requirements, and improve operations, efficiencies and profitability.
  • Defines and facilitates the establishment and implementation of patient care standards including clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures, and tools to facilitate evidence-based practice that meets national, state and local rules and regulations as well as voluntary accreditation standards.
  • Leads and facilitates business planning processes and creative strategies for new program development to drive growth and lower costs while maintaining or enhancing quality, including capital planning and projects across the organization. Provides innovative thinking and strategies for new initiatives to improve overall service line performance.
  • Identifies and facilitates process improvement activity that promotes safety, positive patient experience and staff / physician engagement and satisfaction.
  • As Chair of the System Perioperative Council, brings together region perioperative leaders creating a unified perioperative governing body establishing benchmark clinical practices and business strategies across the organization.
  • Partners closely with senior executives, sales and marketing executives and service line management teams at the national and regional levels to enable growth and strategies.
  • Engages with other national, region and facility services line leaders to obtain and share best practices.
  • Oversees implementation of technology solutions to improve quality, safety, efficiency and end user satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Education

 

  • Master’s degree in nursing, business, hospital or health care administration or other related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA).
  • If master’s degree is not in nursing, a baccalaureate or doctorate in nursing is required.
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of successful and progressive experience in a healthcare system or hospital leadership.
  • Experience in directing other clinical areas, working closely with physicians and developing clinical strategies, implementing operational efforts and measuring outcomes.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of leadership experience managing a variety of patient care services in a complex surgical services healthcare environment.

 

Required License and Certifications

 

  • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a state within which CommonSpirit Health operates.
  • National certification in Perioperative Services (e.g., CNOR, CSSM
