Job description

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Sys Ops II Technician to become a part of our outstanding team. The Engineers will work closely with Development, Support, and Implementation to work towards providing the best possible experience to our customers while maintaining a secure environment in the data centers.

The Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting activities related to software, hardware, and connectivity in the Applied Systems data center environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Follow security best practices and processes to protect the customers’ data.
  • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve software/hardware/network issues related to the Applied Cloud environments.
  • Backup and restore SQL databases for Applied Cloud products utilizing SQL Server.
  • Install program updates for Applied Systems software.
  • Investigate and resolve issues, reported by the Support department and Cloud Operations Technician team, to Applied Systems software, Microsoft Office products, email, connectivity, and general server issues.
  • Process data deliveries to the Applied Cloud for Data Services projects
  • Configure and test software installation on terminal servers in the Applied Cloud environments.
  • Create documentation for policies and procedures to be used in the department for software installations, server configurations, or troubleshooting.
  • Works closely with other Cloud Services groups to resolve issues or help with configuration changes/testing.


What You’ll Need To Succeed

We’re looking for someone who

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems Office


Your experience should include some or all of the following

  • 3+ years of technical support experience in a Windows domain environment, including troubleshooting simple to complex software/hardware issues.
  • This role operates across M – F, 8.5-hour shift 6 pm – 230 am CT.
  • Has experience working with SQL and Microsoft Server
  • Working knowledge of scripting for administrative tasks (VB Script, PowerShell, or Command Line batch files), additional Microsoft products, including SQL Server Management Studio
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and network troubleshooting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has an inquisitive mindset with a pro-active approach
  • Knowledge of MS Windows operating systems
  • Experience working out of a ticketing system
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience

  • Understanding of public cloud terminology for GCS, AWS, and others
