Job description

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager within our esteemed Project Management Office. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading two major initiatives: the transition of inserter equipment for a postal agency and the deployment of AssetWorks for Maine Surplus Property in partnership with Central Services. This position allows you to manage a range of projects throughout Maine’s Executive Branch, utilizing Agile methodologies to enhance collaboration and drive meaningful outcomes.

Position Overview

Title: Project Manager 3

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Remote (Augusta, ME 04333)

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead and oversee multiple concurrent projects across various state agencies, guiding them from assessment through successful execution.
  • Manage the replacement of equipment and lead process enhancements for a postal agency, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate the implementation of AssetWorks for Maine Surplus Property, working closely with diverse teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including business and IT teams, to ensure project timelines are met and quality standards are upheld.
  • Employ Agile methodologies and project management practices to effectively manage strategic initiatives and promote ongoing improvement.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent blend of education and experience, complemented by five years of project management expertise.
  • A solid grasp of project management principles and familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Proven experience in state government and a strong ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive stance toward challenges.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software and tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in vendor management is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated project management experience and understanding of project principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams.
  • Previous experience within a governmental or public sector context is advantageous.
