Job Overview

Join our esteemed organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for children across Texas as an Infant/Toddler Daycare Teacher Assistant. We are seeking passionate individuals to contribute to our vibrant childcare center, The Corner School, located at our corporate headquarters in northwest Austin. This role offers the chance to work closely with children, supporting their development in a nurturing and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee groups of children both indoors and outdoors to ensure their health and safety.
  • Support the lead teacher in planning and implementing engaging educational activities.
  • Provide personalized attention to each child, encouraging their self-discipline and growth.
  • Share accountability for maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to create age-appropriate curricula and lesson plans tailored to children’s interests.
  • Mentor and oversee classroom aides and volunteers as required.
  • Assume the role of classroom leader during the Lead Teacher's absence.
  • Foster an inclusive atmosphere for children and families from all backgrounds.
  • Ensure a safe setting by proactively identifying and communicating potential hazards.
  • Engage in various program activities, such as meals and arts and crafts.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through daily interactions and written updates regarding children's progress.

  • Strong understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices for young children.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communicative skills for engaging with parents and team members.
  • Sound judgment concerning children’s health and safety.
  • Capability to interact with children at their eye level, promoting engagement during activities.
  • Respect for confidentiality and a strong commitment to inclusivity.
  • Willingness to assist children with toileting or diapering as needed.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient while helping children manage their emotions.
  • A sense of humor and adaptability to meet the needs of children and the program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum age of 18.
  • Preferred: Three years of experience in a licensed childcare facility and a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • Completion of 24 clock hours of professional development training from approved sources by the anniversary date of employment.
