Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cinematography/Filmmaking Instructor to join our team in a remote capacity, dedicated to educating middle and high school students. In this pivotal role, you will guide students in honing their visual storytelling and film production skills, engaging them in projects such as short films, documentaries, music videos, and commercials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire creativity and facilitate a collaborative learning atmosphere for students to explore their filmmaking potential.
  • Instruct classes with group sizes ranging from 3 to 15 students, providing individualized attention and support.
  • Set up and operate filmmaking equipment, including cameras and lighting, while assisting students with practical production tasks.
  • Offer mentorship and constructive feedback on students’ creative projects, fostering their growth both technically and artistically.

Required Skills

  • Significant experience within the filmmaking industry, demonstrating hands-on expertise across various genres and styles.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, capable of engaging students in an energetic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a patient demeanor.
  • Proficiency in camera operation, lighting setups, and shot composition, along with familiarity with industry-standard video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Experience in visual effects, color grading, and sound design is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in cinematography or filmmaking is required.
  • Candidates must submit a showreel or portfolio showcasing their cinematography work, including short films, commercials, or other relevant projects.
  • Ownership of a laptop (Windows or Mac) capable of supporting video editing software is necessary.
  • While prior teaching experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, particularly with youth.
