Job description

Job Overview

We are currently in search of an experienced and compassionate Director of Long Term Care (D/LTC) to efficiently manage our 52-bed Long Term Care Department. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations and working closely with the Long Term Care Administrator to establish and execute policies, procedures, budgeting, quality assessments, and continual enhancements in customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the operations of the Long Term Care Department, ensuring adherence to high standards of care and service.
  • Act as a clinical resource and leader, championing the philosophy, goals, and objectives of nursing administration.
  • Employ comprehensive nursing processes to effectively manage resident care.
  • Aid in planning and executing clinical resident care while identifying necessary clinical resources to uphold exceptional care standards.
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels as per established guidelines.
  • Engage actively in the hospital’s Nurse Aide education program to maintain a supply of certified nursing assistants within the LTC unit.

Required Skills

  • Valid RN license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Proven leadership and managerial acumen.
  • Proficiency in managing the nursing process to facilitate effective resident care.
  • Capability to identify and allocate necessary clinical resources.
  • Familiarity with CMS regulations, state requirements, and quality indicators pertinent to Long Term Care.
  • Knowledge of the RAI process is advantageous.
  • Competence in facility information systems and unit-specific software programs.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a long-term care facility within the past five years.
  • Progressive management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Membership in a professional organization and national certification in your specialty are highly recommended.
  • Experience in formal higher education teaching is preferred.
