Job description

The Economic Development and Sustainability (EDS) Shareholder Intern will support the EDS Department by completing assigned projects and general administrative tasks.

Internships will run from June 2nd – August 3rd.

  • Assist EDS department with various programs and initiatives, to include, but not limited to NANA’s Regional Broadband Network, Atautchikun, LLC grant making efforts, alternative energy projects, and VEI grant management assistance.
  • Assists with Vice President with special projects to assist with carrying out the EDS and NANA board strategic plan, to include planning efforts, program development, project initiation and monitoring of special projects. Assist Vice President with shareholder business development program.
  • Receive, organize, and document village grant applications with the EDS Manager
  • Assist with preparing application package for the EDS committee and board meetings.
  • Communicate with village, city and/or tribe regarding EDS special projects and VEI grant application, project documentation, and processing of payments.
  • Provide administrative support to the department, as needed.
  • Scan, copy or print documents for special projects, documenting purposes or records needs.
  • May answer incoming calls, may also make outgoing calls as needed to support activities, projects, or day-to day work activity.
  • Operate in a climate of confidentiality requiring discretion.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as needed.
  • Must be a NANA shareholder. NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college pursuing Business, Accounting, or Rural Development or similar field.
  • Have good communication skills to work with NANA management team and local leaders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience with business development or management, project management, community planning, or grant program management preferred, but not required.
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Preferably a Junior or Senior level college student.

Noise level The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Physical requirements Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
