Director, Building Operations & Services

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a seasoned Director – Building Operations & Services (BOS) to lead the Building Operations and Services Department for CSL Melbourne (CSLM) and Bio21 sites. You will manage a team and provide leadership guidance for all engineering, maintenance, and utility systems, processes, and personnel, ensuring engineering excellence and financial management of the operating budget.

This role is pivotal in developing the support strategy for CSLM Melbourne in collaboration with key stakeholders from Enabling Functions and R&D. You will manage the strategic direction of engineering, maintenance/utilities, and facility services/support (including insourcing and outsourcing models), ensuring operational excellence and cost efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Maintenance and Utilities, you will:

• Manage strategic plans, expenses, and capital budgets aligned with divisional goals.
• Develop the building service structure and strategy for support streams at CSL Melbourne.
• Drive operational excellence and cost optimizations through effective management of direct and indirect workstreams.
• Serve as the single point of contact and escalation for Project Delivery, Execution Systems, and Validation/Revalidation Services.
• Manage Service Level Agreements with lab equipment vendors and other third parties.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, help coordinate events, and manage IFM and maintenance services for Bio21, and engineering services for Jumar.
• Establish site budgets and forecasts for all outsourced contractors and lab service providers.
• Liaise Quality Agreement between CSL Behring and R&D QA for all services, including Engineering Services and Systems, QC, Warehouse/Supply Chain, Project Delivery, and Execution Systems.
• Manage the Facility Steering Committee, responsible for all decisions on site, and present in all major committees (e.g., Engagement Committee, R&D Stakeholder Committee).

Your Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical); advanced degree.
• 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/GMP environment.
• Experience in the compliant operations and maintenance of R&D labs and facilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and integrate project planning across departments.
• Excellent stakeholder focus and collaborative mindset, with the ability to inspire and build trustful business relationships
