The primary responsibility for this position is to ensure that Airgas Operating Standards (AOSs) related to financial and working capital controls are being followed and daily work is being done correctly at the branches. This position will also play a key role in researching and investigating potential fraudulent transactions and ensuring the success of the Branch Operations Risk Audit (BORA) methodology and managing the completeness and accuracy of the ABOC Branch Results. 

In Particular you will:

  • Conduct branch/plant audits on Airgas Operating Standards (AOSs) related to financial and working capital at the branches. Identify and assess compliance and control risks.

  • Communicate branch audit results and regular updates to Division Finance and Regional Company Management team on overall branch AOS compliance results, make recommendations, and highlight performance trends.

  • Document findings, effectively write an audit report & escalate issues to appropriate levels within the organization.

  • Monitor and review various key metrics to evaluate process deficiencies, pay particular attention to significantly aged open items.

  • Provide coaching and/or training for branch personnel on financial topics and related processes/systems.

  • Liaison with Division Finance to correct errors at the branch, assist in diagnosing root cause.

  • Perform confidential reviews and investigations for suspicious transactions and fraudulent activity. Liaison between Division Finance and Corporate Internal Audit for all fraud investigations.

  • Conduct quarterly expense report and p-card audits on North Division employees. Provide a quarterly update to the Controller & CFO regarding areas/employees audited, common issues, concerns & suggestions related to expense and p-card processes.

  • Partner with North Division counterparts to continuously develop and document audit programs to be utilized to audit compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s financial policies/procedures.

  • Lead all acquisition integration data conversions for the North Division with a primary focus on SAP conversion and accuracy.

  • Communicate project status to all relevant stakeholders in a timely manner, escalating issues to management may be required.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field desired. An equivalent combination of work experience, technical training/education and/or industry specific experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

  • Prior project management, audit, branch retail, operations or accounting/finance industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Google Workspace including Gmail, Drive, Sheets, & Docs  as well as a demonstrated ability to utilize financial applications within SAP.

  • Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and strives to understand customer’s needs, both internal and external.

  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.

  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on investigation and judgment as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and juggle between divisional, local and Corporate management demands.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status of position. Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships.

  • Strong analytical skills; competency for understanding metrics and ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization and external customers.

  • Leadership skills; Identifies requirements; allocates, and effectively uses information, personnel, time, and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives, schedules, and priorities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust communication method based on customer situation.

  • A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
