Job description

Enterprise Cybersecurity Data Scientist, Senior

Key Role:

Research, develop, and test data methodologies, and generate cross-functional solutions through analysis of large data sets. Apply logical skills and data science expertise by simplifying technical requirements and trends to produce meaningful data stories for both a technical and non-technical audience. Present data findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders using your knowledge of data lakes, scripting languages such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and R, and data visualization tools. Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics and key performance indicators (KPI) to drive technical outcomes. Apply data visualization through various formats such as dashboards, graphs, tables, and PowerPoint slides. Improve cybersecurity visibility and analytics by identifying and closing gaps for data insights. Advance the cybersecurity mission by utilizing data analysis techniques on cyber threat and intelligence information. Drive large-scale business and process decisions across Booz Allen by creating data driven stories for our cybersecurity posture and effectiveness. Contribute to impactful work and guide decision-making across multiple organizations. Work independently as well as on a small team developing products that drive Enterprise cybersecurity and information technology business decisions, identify improvement opportunities, and develop a meaningful story for our cyber mission. Work closely with internal cybersecurity teams to collect requirements and analyze data-rich environments. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience with data science and data analysis
  • 4+ years of experience working with Python and SQL
  • 2+ years of experience working in a big data ecosystem with tools such as Databricks, Spark, or Hadoop
  • 1+ years of experience supporting a cybersecurity team
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and how to apply them to large datasets
  • Ability to develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations in data visualization tools such as Power BI
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to be self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Cybersecurity, or Information Security field

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning (ML) frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
  • Experience with Splunk log ingestion, data structures, and query language
  • Experience applying data methodologies to a Cyber Fusion Center (CFC), Security Operations Center (SOC), or enterprise cybersecurity organization
  • Experience with Zero Trust (ZT) visibility and analytics
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and ML capabilities, and ways to apply these methodologies to visibility and analytics
  • Possession of strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Possession of strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner and translating data into actionable insights
  • Master’s degree in Data Science or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
