Pay Rate: $55+

Location: Franklin, Wisconsin, United States

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional weekend work as needed.

We are seeking an experienced DB2 LUW Database Systems Engineer. This role involves engineering and supporting database systems, including analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, and upgrades. The successful candidate will apply established architectural and engineering best practices to handle complex systems, focusing on innovation, automation, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the engineering and support of DB2 LUW database systems, focusing on system solutions, feature implementation, and complex problem resolution.

Develop and manage database upgrade, migration, and configuration patterns.

Drive innovation for system improvements, including architectural and design best practices.

Write and maintain Unix shell and Python scripts for maintenance, automation, and testing.

Enhance infrastructure monitoring, alerts, and business continuity planning (BCP).

Partner with product teams to design and build data solutions based on business requirements and functional specifications.

Apply ITIL processes and demonstrate good judgment in communicating with vendors, internal teams, and management.

Utilize automation tools like Ansible Tower and Git CICD pipelines for infrastructure support.

Must-Have Skills:

Extensive experience with DB2 LUW, including HADR and TSA tiebreaker scenarios.

Proficiency with AIX/Linux operating systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work logically and methodically.

Experience in developing database upgrade, migration, and configuration patterns.

Ability to drive innovation, find automation opportunities, and guide the use of new features and functionalities.

Proficiency in writing complex Unix shell and Python scripts.

Competency in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Knowledge, and Change Management.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with diverse teams.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in ambiguous situations.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with AWS or other cloud environments (e.g., Redshift, Elasticache, Databricks).

Experience with Terraform for AWS cloud-based clusters and nodes.

Familiarity with Atlassian’s Jira for agile feature and story creation.

Experience with automation tools like Ansible Tower and Git CICD pipelines.

Experience with database-related products like ELK stack, Dynatrace, and Database Brothers Inc. (DBI).

Knowledge of CyberArk vaulting for access management.

Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in DB2 LUW database administration.

Strong technical aptitude with a creative approach to problem-solving.

Ability to train and mentor team members.

Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
