We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Senior Counsel to provide legal support for commercial and operational matters. In this role, you will handle high-level contract negotiations, manage legal risks, and ensure compliance with industry regulations, while collaborating with internal teams to drive business success.
 

As the Senior Commercial Counsel, you will be responsible for:
 

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating strategic business agreements and transactions.
  • Reviewing, negotiating and drafting various agreements, including customer contracts, supplier agreements, nondisclosure agreements, lease agreements, software agreements (including software licenses, SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS), and other domestic and international commercial agreements.
  • Collaborating with internal departments including finance, project delivery, business development, and security to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks associated with commercial transactions and compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Demonstrating entrepreneurial thought and action, be accountable and responsible for the planning and execution of legal advice in different digital projects.
  • Participating in negotiations with customers and suppliers, including innovative deal structuring (e.g., joint ventures, strategic alliances, joint research, and development).
  • Demonstrating entrepreneurial thought and action, be accountable and responsible for the planning and execution of legal advice in different digital projects.
  • Assessing, appointing, and managing outside counsel.
  • Collaborating with other members of BH Legal on the management of litigation related to the business, including determination of reserves/accruals and reporting & other region counsels.
  • Supporting matters relating to threatened / potential litigation, including debt collection and supplier insolvency.
  • Apprising commercial team and product line leaders on legal risks and exposures.
  • Participating and leading training to sales and commercial team on terms and conditions an legal risks,
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of a strong culture of compliance including supporting Compliance project.

To be successful in this role you will:
 

  • Be licensed to practice law in the US or UK and/or other jurisdiction with significant experience in a law firm or in house.
  • Have major experience negotiating digital contracts
  • Be fluent in English, both verbally and written.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Be able to think clearly: Simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely.
  • Have external focus: Understanding areas of law, regulations, risks, marketplace dynamics, industry trends, and the compliance landscape.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $120,000.00 - $254,500.00.

Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.
