Who will you be working with?
Our team consists of Level 1 and 2 certified Technical Advisors, Material Specialists, and Fleet Program Managers that provide best-in-class support to our customer (CN).  You will interact daily with the customer during the problem resolution process and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Field Services Americas team, you will be responsible for helping our customer (CN) maintain their fleet of Wabtec locomotives by providing exceptional technical advice and fleet support. This is a hybrid shop/fleet role that will split its time between directly supporting the shop 3 days per week and also supporting the fleet team 2 days per week.
Essential Responsibilities
Field Service & Technical Advising Manager (3 days per week on site)
  • Represent Wabtec in the customer facility by providing technical information, work scopes, troubleshooting, and recommended repairs for locomotive maintenance.
  • Use your technical network to escalate technical concerns and engage remote Wabtec technical resources to solve local customer problems.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels within the customer shop.
  • Lead a team of Technical Advisors to actively communicate within the shop and with the expanded Wabtec network to ensure technical accuracy and appropriate urgency.
  • Document repairs and material usage in eServices, including work order and defect close out notes, task sign offs, and component serial numbers.
  • Participates in customer failure review of shopped locomotives
  • Train and support loading of all Wabtec supported Locomotive control and configuration software – e.g., DP, LDARS, GoLink, etc.
  • Locomotive parts warranty support
  • Understand applicable industry regulations (Transport Canada / FRA / AAR).
  • Understand and apply all environmental, health, and safety rules to work safely and actively participate in a positive safety culture.
  • Maintain Wabtec assets at the customer site (material, IT, intellectual property, tooling).
  • Perform material handling (unpack, move, pack) with 100% compliance to safety guidelines.
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in dealing with all customers and external suppliers.
Fleet Program Manager (2 days per week remote)
  • Support execution of plan for reliability programs associated with all assigned locomotive fleets
  • Maintain tracking systems (CCD, Reliance and other systems) and develop project and FMI execution plans to meet internal targets for assigned fleets and customers
  • Network with engineering, fleet management, commercial and program management teams to identify root cause and drive solutions to reliability issues with a sense of urgency
  • Prioritize projects and improvements with engineering and ensure solutions are cut-in on future production of locomotives or parts. Monitor and support engineering projects to drive case age goals
  • Coordinate field tests (FTONs) with engineering, Service Leaders and GLO Program Management team
  • Coordinate with engineering to create detailed work scopes with schedules and planned expenditures for modification programs
  • Support and liaise with Project Manager and/or account material leaders for FMI material planning and logistics
  • Drive execution and plan for reliability programs associated with all assigned locomotive fleets
  • Deliver post-project analysis to determine FMI reliability effectiveness and cost or productivity targets
  • Provide direction and leadership to drive for process improvements across all functions involved in delivery of service and warranty to the customer
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 5 years additional experience in locomotive field services, manufacturing or maintenance position. This role requires extensive locomotive product and technical knowledge from day one.
  • Achieve Level 1 certification within 18 months of start date and actively work to improve technical knowledge and skill
Eligibility Requirements
  • Willing and able to work various days in a 24/7/365 environment
  • Willing and able to work in a shop environment with significant time on the floor or on locomotives
  • Willing and able to follow railroad site safety procedures
  • Willing and able to travel as required for work up to 20% of the time
  • Must be able to read/write/speak fluent English

This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.
