Job description

Position Summary 

The role of the technical engineer is to design IT infrastructure (AWS) components to meet business and technical requirements. IT infrastructure may include systems, middleware, database, storage and/or network infrastructure. The engineer must demonstrate the ability to efficiently deploy, test & certify technology platforms, software and applications. Troubleshoot, debug application(s) and/or IT infrastructure component(s) and recommend enhancements for stable operations. Maintain and patch systems, software and applications to eliminate bug fixes, security vulnerabilities and maintain technology currency of systems and applications. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement cloud architectures that meet the scalability, security, and performance needs of the organization. 
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud services and technologies that align with business objectives.
  • Oversee the deployment, management, and maintenance of cloud environments. 
  • Ensure that cloud systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices in the cloud environment, ensuring that all deployments meet compliance requirements and organizational security policies.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations. 
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate cloud services with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Set up monitoring tools to track the performance and health of cloud infrastructure. 
  • Lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud spend, ensuring that the organization is getting the best value from its cloud investments. 
  • Provide cost projections and budgeting support to the finance team.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to understand their needs and provide appropriate cloud solutions. 
  • Act as the point of contact for cloud-related queries and escalations.
  • Stay updated with the latest cloud trends, tools, and technologies. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cloud operations.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or a related field, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing cloud architectures for large-scale applications.
  • Proficiency in cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Certifications in cloud computing such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

The annual salary for this role is currently $155,000.00-$185,000.00. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members.  The salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, at the Company’s discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
