About the role
Our growing Data & Analytics team is looking for a Product Owner!
Data is the most important asset in today’s competitive world. We are the Data and Analytics department of the largest P&C insurer in Canada. Our mission is: “Accelerate our data advantage by bringing to user analytical data ready to be consumed, at a proper level of trust and security”.
Our team is using modern concepts, tools and technologies for data ingestion, acquisition and data consumption and work with Agile framework. We are structured into small, highly productive squads and working very close with the Data Lab team composed of Actuaries and Data Scientists.

What you'll do here:
- Manage the backlog and create the list of backlog items and prioritize them based on the overall strategy, business objectives, scope, budget, and time.
- Play a primary communicator role and link between stakeholders and the team.
- Gather requirements and communicate status of the deliverables to stakeholders.
- Understand and anticipate the client’s needs to manage the development process more effectively.
- Play a primary role in inspecting and evaluating development progress through each iteration.
- Identify detailed acceptance criteria on User Stories and document proposed solution, its scope, and the requirements.
- Verify and validate business requirements using prototyping techniques, traceability matrices, as well as the definition of scenarios and test cases.
- Write, review, and recommend changes on documentation (business processes, system documentation and procedures) in order to facilitate users' training as well as the integration of new processes and technologies within current operations.
- Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Computer Science or equivalent.
- 6 + years of experience in product owner position in a data driven environment.
- Good knowledge in Cloud, Data Lake, Data Warehouses (Data Vault, Informatica, PL / SQL, Oracle, Snowflake, Hadoop, AWS S3, etc.).
- Certified Product Owner (CSPO, PSPO I, PSPO II) will be considered an asset.
- Extensive understanding of the Agile development process and best practices.
- Strong analytical, technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Your experience and application knowledge in the insurance field, an asset.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
