Data Engineer and Business Intelligence Developer

The Opportunity:

Ever-expanding technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence means that there’s more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a data engineer, you know that organizing big data can yield pivotal insights when it’s gathered from disparate sources. We need an experienced data engineer to help our clients find answers in their big data to impact important missions. As a data engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects. You’ll deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.

Booz Allen is seeking an experienced Data Engineer and Business Intelligence Developer to support the client’s data analytics office. As the Data Engineer and Business Intelligence Developer, you will support the client by developing technical solutions and ensuring personnel have the capability to access, ingest, and process data at the speed of mission relevance. You will accelerate the velocity of data for consumption, ensuring data and information is available, secure, and accessible to the client. You will build and maintain databases, data pipelines, and dashboards within the Advana, Jupiter, or Bolt enclave, Microsoft Azure services, and Microsoft Power Platform. You will perform data engineering and help promote a culture of leveraging data as a strategic asset.

You’ll provide your customer with a deep understanding of their data, what it all means, and how they can use it. Join us as we use data science for good in the defense industry.

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience as a data engineer
  • 3+ years of experience in Python, SQL, DAX, and Power Query
  • Experience with data analysis, and data wrangling, including data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Premium Service, Power Automate, and SharePoint Online
  • Experience building business intelligence dashboards models and trend analysis
  • Knowledge of establishing data pipelines to support algorithmic model building
  • Ability to comprehend stakeholder needs effectively, communicate development plans, and track progress milestones
  • Ability to develop solutions in accordance with Visible, Accessible, Understandable, Linked, Trustworthy, Interoperable, and Secure (VAULTIS) principles
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience using Microsoft Data Factory, and Advana or Jupiter enclave tools such as Databricks, Qlik, or Tableau
  • Experience with IBM COGNOS and JSON, statistical analysis with R, and orchestrating data with Azure Data Factory
  • Experience working with the DoD or Marine Corps, and working directly with internal and external clients
  • Knowledge of Azure or PowerShell
  • Ability to advance training and skills through free, accessible training hosted by the DoD
  • Possession of excellent organizational and time management skills, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Possession of excellent critical thinking skills, to assess numbers, trends, and data to reach new conclusions based on findings
  • Possession of excellent quantitative skills, including statistical analysis, process design, and data management
  • Master's degree
  • Azure or Data Engineering Microsoft Certified Professional Certification

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
