WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

For the Sr. Operations Manager role, CommerceNext is looking for a candidate with previous operations experience within the retail and ecommerce industry. The Senior Operations Manager is a highly organized, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong negotiation, decision-making and leadership skills.

THE ROLE:

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the overall delivery of a portfolio of exhibitions within agreed budgets and deadlines, with a focus on the assigned events, working as part of the operations team and alongside the event teams. They are also responsible for the management and development of the operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares site/facility proposals and makes recommendations; arranges for site inspections, assembles all service information regarding contractor interaction with exhibitors, including wall layouts, drayage and other relevant needs.
  • Contract management; negotiating, managing and maintaining departmental contracts.
  • Management and implementation of Service Level Agreements.
  • Initiate and maintain projects, procedures and processes to continually improve the quality of events and the operations team.
  • Budget management; managing lines of operational responsibility accurately, making as many savings as possible without decreasing quality, being creative with solutions to budget issues and ensuring the shows do not go over budget.
  • Negotiates contracts for onsite vendors, ensuring agreements are within the corporate guidelines. Communicates space requirements, works with Housing to negotiate complimentary rooms, percent increase limits, cancellation policies, catering, security, audio-visual needs, parking, etc., and complies with all facilities contracts and general contractor agreements.
  • Health and Safety management of shows pre-show, onsite and post-show.
  • Design and production of all feature areas.
  • Liaison with contractors, suppliers, exhibitors and event teams.
  • Post event reporting and analysis.
  • Producing high quality events within agreed budget and deadlines.
  • Ensuring the technical aspects of all events run smoothly.
  • Management and maintenance of floorplans.
  • Management and maintenance of online technical manuals.
  • Managing stand plan approval process.
  • Ensuring the fulfilment of all sponsorship and contra deals.
  • Oversee post-sale customer service for summit sponsors, ensuring client success across all touchpoints.
  • Manages customer/exhibitor needs with event staff; works with show management to create floor plan layout for each event to ensure proper customer/content placement and customer satisfaction.
  • Watches for good traffic flow, adequate areas for registration and exhibitor services, and ensures compliance with safety and facility requirements Project planning and scheduling.
  • Employ the highest standards of practice to deliver optimum results at all times.
  • Ad hoc duties as deemed necessary.
