Job Summary:

The Railroad Maintenance of Way Coordinator inspects work and monitors contractors to ensure FRA rules and regulations, client policies, standards, and all safety requirements are met with compliance while work is being completed. The inspector communicates regularly with their manager/supervisor and completes weekly/daily reports as required. The Coordinator plays an integral part in the RailPros client relationship.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and monitor construction activities on or near Client right-of-way
  • Monitor job sites for compliance with safety rules, construction work plans, and day-to-day operations
  • Perform Safety Audits for individual job sites along with audits on workers on Client right-of-way
  • Maintain a diary of daily work activities for each construction site
  • Provide communication to manager/supervisor no less than 3 times per week, including weekly on-site construction meetings, emailed status reports, and client field meetings
  • Professional client communication as RailPros' main representative on construction sites
  • Creation and distribution of daily/weekly reports in various formats for both internal and external partners, including project status updates, plan/specification adherence, work quality, scheduling, and delays
  • May be reassigned to cover for other Specialists, Coordinators/Inspectors
  • Coordinate daily or as needed with Maintenance of Way Special Specialists, Seniors, and Manager/Supervisor for guidance and clarification on job duties
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word), as well as Adobe PDF Suite
  • Ability to read and understand construction submittals, RFIs, and other construction-related documents
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1 – 3 years of heavy construction background – ideally in an inspection/testing capacity
  • Experience in railroad construction (within MOW highly preferred)
  • Tech savvy – all reporting and communications are digital via tablet and/or laptop

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • An understanding of construction building principles
  • Experience in construction observation monitoring work sites
  • Ability to participate in safety meetings and job site briefings
  • Ability to read and understand construction submittals, RFIs, and other construction-related documents

Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:

  • Ability to pass ERailSafe background check
  • Valid Driver’s License required
