About the Role

The Project Manager is responsible for managing various small, medium and large-scale projects through the entire project lifecycle, including project planning, execution, monitoring and completion. This role collaborates with and coordinates multiple stakeholders within Food Banks Canada, the network, and with Food Banks Canada’s third-party vendors, to ensure the successful and timely execution of all project goals. The Project Manager will act as a subject matter expert in the area of project management, sharing knowledge, developing and implementing processes, and building capacity across the organization.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage various small, medium, and large-scale projects through the entire project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing
  • Oversee all aspects of a project to ensure the desired results are achieved, the most efficient resources are used, and stakeholder needs are met
  • Define project scope and objectives, and create and maintain a project plan that communicates tasks, milestone dates, status reporting, and resource requirements
  • Monitor project progress to ensure that all project milestones are completed on time and within budget
  • Identify potential project risks and develop strategies and contingency plans to mitigate risks
  • Conduct business analysis to identify project requirements and assumptions, assess risks, and develop requirement validation processes to ensure project success
  • Gather, define and document business requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations
  • Develop detailed user stories, personas, test cases, and acceptance criteria to guide internal teams and external vendors and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including internal resources and third parties or vendors, and coordinate stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of projects
  • Serve as the primary point of contact/central resource for a project, communicating updates to stakeholders and resolving questions and issues that arise
  • Report on project progress and provide recommendations to senior leadership and other key stakeholder groups
  • Develop and make improvements to project management procedures and tools to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in project management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience managing complex and large-scale projects with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple deadlines, and priorities
  • Strong general computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience using project management software platforms (MS Projects, MS Planner, Monday.com, or Asana)
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is an asset
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector or with similar organizations is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
  • This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada
