Job Overview

As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in steering the financial operations of our organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while contributing to the mission-driven goals of the non-profit sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the timely processing of accounts payable.
• Execute regular bank reconciliations and verify bank adjustments and check clearances.
• Monthly reconciliation of endowment accounts.
• Ensure prompt collection of grants and accounts receivable, recognized accurately within appropriate accounting periods.
• Manage monthly payroll entries and necessary adjustments, ensuring precision in shared salary allocations and related journal entries.
• Direct the annual financial audit and 990 tax processes for multiple entities while managing 1099 and 1096 filings.
• Collaborate with external auditors to furnish necessary information and maintain accuracy throughout the audit.
• Conduct internal audits periodically to ensure compliance with cash and grant accounting as well as accounts payable/receivable policies.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
• Proficiency in data management for financial reporting; familiarity with Sage Intacct is highly desirable.
• Exceptional leadership and team development skills.

Qualifications

• Candidates from the Atlanta area are preferred.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a CPA is mandatory, and a Master's Degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a proven ability to manage organizations with budgets of $50MM or more; prior non-profit experience is beneficial.
• At least 5 years of managerial experience in leading and developing high-performing, diverse teams.
