Job description

Business Development Lead, Education (Australia) 

The Business Development Lead will report directly to the APAC Head of Education and will be based in Australia. The role will be responsible for growing Convera’s footprint in the Australian and New Zealand Education industry’s through new customer acquisition. The role will build a deep knowledge and understanding of the education market segments and apply best practices to support new accounts through planning, product knowledge and market insights. The role will require a strong, independent thinker who will be expected to meet targets against a quarterly plan to achieve results. As a senior team member, the Business Development Lead is a role model to all peer groups and will work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing and Partnership team members.

This is a work from home role, but can be based in our Sydney or Melbourne office if preferred.  Flexibility offered.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prospecting will be targeted on organisations across the education and education related service industry including Higher Education, Student Accommodation, Education Agent, VET, EdTech and ELICOS 
  • Develop and maintain knowledge across the education industry as a subject matter expert 
  • Maintain understanding of the education market including compliance and legislative requirements to enhance your ability to meet and anticipate client requirements. 
  • Identify and develop key referral partnerships/ circle of influence relationships with associated organisations, partners and advisors of our prospective clients. 
  • Keeping abreast of innovations in the payments industry 
  • Utilise internal relationship teams and relevant management to close sales opportunities. 
  • Present payment solutions for clients and articulate how our products and services can best solve the challenges they face 
  • Project manage solutions throughout the selling process to completed stage including platform implementation and marketing plan. 
  • Identify key industry events that Convera should attend and coordinate internally to make our attendance a success.  
  • Build a personal profile within the education industry via industry events and LinkedIn to support business development efforts. 

 

Experience: 

  • 5+in Sales or Account Management roles with proven track record of achieving targets
  • Essential – you must demonstrate the above experience either within the global FX/payments industry, or the (Aus/NZ) higher education industry.
  • Preferred - Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or relevant field; Education, FinTech, or Treasury background preferred.  
  • A proven track record of: 
  • achieving targets,  
  • identifying new sales opportunities 
  • delivering client solutions 
  • owning the voice of the customer 
  • Experience in analyzing data and sales statistics to translate results into better sales. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and build positive relationships and influence at Senior executive level both internally and across the customer base. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all media, as well as experience in leading sales and GTM technology (Salesforce.com experience an asset) 
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills across all media. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for internal and external meetings -~10-15% of your time. 
  • Existing & ongoing working rights in Australia required to be considered – please make this clear on your CV
