What impact can you make in this role?

You will be part of a team that is an integrated investment service team that partners the business in providing services to support public markets investment.

With GIC formally adopting a Sustainability Policy, being a Responsible Steward of our investee companies is one of the key tenets. The successful candidate will join the Investment Services Public Markets (ISPM) Sustainability Operations team to work on cross- department projects related to process integration.

 

What will you do as an Associate, Sustainability Operations?

Sustainability Integration; Project and Change Management

  • Facilitate integration activities: Understand GIC’s Sustainability policy and principles, lead and drive projects to support Front Office in policy implementation, through ideation, enhancing workflows, analytics, enable adoption of tools, harmonizing top-down policy objectives with bottom-up feasibility
  • Drive optimal Target Operating Model for Front-to-Back Office support in sustainability initiatives, balancing agility and scalability
  • Manage internal/external stakeholders, organize critical paths, objectives, set and drive deadlines
  • Assist development of strategic business plans, framework and procedures on related projects

 

Sustainability Business Operations

  •    Operationalize sustainability utilities and platforms to support Front Office, including managing external service providers, such as proxy voting services, that enable the Front Office to conduct research and documentation more efficiently and effectively
  •     Operationalize and manage Sustainability-related business operations, e.g. negative screening procedures, customize and monitor proxy voting rules, benchmark development and performance measurement
  •     Navigate evolving client and internal Sustainability reporting needs, enhance processes and analytics to produce effective, accurate and timely reporting

 

Innovation

  •  Collaborate effectively with multiple Front Office Groups, ISPM’s DSS Team (Data Solutions & Services), Technology and Risk Groups, to design optimal ESG data and technology solutions
  •  Lead and drive continuous improvement, including identifying new business requirements, capabilities and technology adoption

 

    What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business/Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics
  • Financial certifications such as CFA, CIPM or any ESG certifications (e.g., from CFA/GARP) a plus
  • At least 3 years of prior experience in project and change management; and financial analysis in areas relating to Sustainability, e.g., proxy voting issues, regulatory frameworks and corporate governance in different markets
  • Excellent team player. Respect and work well with all levels and across different cultures

      Self-starter, committed, dependable, positive and driven. Enjoy working in a dynamic environment. Deliver high standards of work under extended time pressure. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Effectively manage high volume of projects with tight deadlines

  •    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adept at stakeholder management

  •    Strong analytical ability, including financial and quantitative literacy and attention to detail

  •    Critical thinking skills. Strong ability to navigate unstructured situations and handle setbacks with resilience
