Energy storage is the key to unlocking a future where our world is powered by renewable resources. At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.

The Convergent Control Center is responsible for managing the daily operation of our fleet of energy storage and PV solar assets. Primary responsibilities for all Control Center Operators include charging and discharging energy storage systems to meet our obligations, monitoring and analyzing system telemetry, evaluating and responding to detected events or reported issues, and remotely assisting field personnel in safely conducting maintenance and repairs.  Control Center Operators remotely monitor and operate electrical relays, inverters, network communications, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and other computer systems to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous plant operation.

The primary objective of a Control Center Operator III is to be a skilled and experienced resource focused on maintaining and operating our fleet of energy storage assets with minimal equipment downtime and production losses through knowledgeable, proactive, responsive, and timely actions that maximize plant performance and safety.

What You’ll Do

Daily Asset Operations

  • Perform a daily assessment of asset operational status and create trouble tickets to prioritize investigation and remediation of issues.
  • Manage asset dispatch based on platform directives.
  • Respond to changing conditions to maximize plant safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements through adherence to all operational procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Monitor data inputs such as weather conditions, solar irradiance, demand response requests, and real-time and predictive demand and use that data to respond to dispatch and curtailment requests as directed by documented processes, operating agreements, and outage directives.
  • Provide feedback on operating strategies and processes and assist in implementing improvements.
  • Must be willing to work and cover between 1900 – 0730 ET.

Event Management & Triage

  • Visually monitor network, asset, and plant parameters, data points, and sensor outputs to verify operating conditions and detect faults or malfunctions.
  • Respond to proactive monitoring alerts and document faults or issues.
  • Proactively take the lead on high-priority, high-impact issue investigation and escalation.
  • Provide guidance to junior Operators on proper triage and escalation processes and procedures.
  • Log and record actions taken during your shift within monitoring, activity logging, and ticketing systems.

Incident Response & On-call Escalation

  • Escalate impactful issues to our vendors, partners, data carriers, and Field Operations team.
  • Take ownership of the most complex and impactful issues or tasks and drive those to resolution.
  • Provide support and assist our Field Operations and vendors in analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues.
  • Respond to working and off-hours calls to our Emergency Response line and take appropriate action.

Problem Management & Change Management

  • Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, discover opportunities for improvements, and take appropriate action.
  • Take the lead in coordination with customer, vendor, and partner organization contacts on forced or scheduled outages.
  • Successfully manage and execute complex and critical plant maintenance and performance testing, documenting the proper process and procedures for future use.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Proactively identify common procedures, processes, and critical tasks and assist in educating and guiding junior staff on proper processes and procedures.
  • Take a leading role in maintaining and updating processes and run book documentation to ensure they are accurate, relevant, and up to date as methods or requirements change.
