Job description

The Head of Commercial US will play a critical role in driving revenue growth in North America & LATAM, developing and executing sales strategies, and managing the commercial team within the US. This leader will be responsible for expanding YouGov’s market presence, fostering client relationships, and ensuring the achievement of financial targets.  

The ideal candidate will be disciplined, focused, and driven to delivering consistent results in a fast-paced environment by staying composed and solution-oriented, adaptable, possessing the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.    

Must have a deep understanding of the market research industry, a proven track record in sales leadership, and the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing team.   

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Revenue Growth: Your focus will be on driving significant revenue growth through new business acquisition and expansion of existing accounts.  
  • You’ll identify key growth sectors, tailor approaches to fit different client needs, and take ownership of achieving and exceeding both quarterly and annual sales targets.  
  • Your efforts will help scale the business by leveraging your insights into client pain points and delivering solutions that generate measurable ROI. 
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the North America & LATAM market, aligning with YouGov’s overall business objectives and growth targets. 
  •  By monitoring market trends, competitor activities, continuously analyzing market conditions and competitive dynamics, you’ll position the business to not just meet but exceed its sales targets.  
  • You’ll set a clear vision for the team, aligning goals and ensuring every action contributes to the company's long-term growth. 
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage the US commercial team. As a key leader, you’ll not only manage but inspire a high-performing sales team.  You’ll play a critical role in fostering a collaborative team culture, creating a positive, motivating environment where success is shared, ideas are freely exchanged, and diversity of thought is embraced.  
  • As a leader, a key responsibility will be coaching and developing talent to build a high-performing, agile sales team. This involves identifying individual strengths and growth areas, offering tailored coaching to enhance skills, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. By setting clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating development plans.  
  • You’ll encourage innovation, creativity, and calculated risk-taking. By promoting open communication, continuous feedback, and a culture of accountability, you’ll drive not just individual success but overall team excellence.  Your ability to unite the team under a shared vision and foster a strong sense of purpose will be key to maintaining a cohesive, results-oriented sales organization.

  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with top- tier clients, understanding their needs, anticipate challenges, and offer innovative solutions ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. Building trust and ensuring long-term client loyalty will be central to your role, requiring you to maintain proactive communication, deliver value consistently, and provide a personalized experience that sets us apart.  
  • Sales Operations: Oversee sales operations, ensure a streamlined sales process by managing pipelines, tracking performance, and forecasting revenue and reporting to ensure efficient and effective sales processes.  
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., marketing, product development, Insights, Client Services and research) to ensure cohesive and coordinated efforts across the business. You’ll ensure that sales strategies are supported by targeted marketing efforts, and sales operations run smoothly. This collaboration will ensure you’re delivering a holistic approach to problem-solving that aligns with the broader business. 

Key Qualifications: 

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior sales or commercial role, preferably within the market research or data analytics industry. 
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and managing a high-performing sales team with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and professional development. 
  • Sales Acumen: Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, with a deep understanding of sales processes and strategies. 
  • Market Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the market research industry in the US, including key players, market trends, and client needs. 
  • Client Focus: Exceptional client relationship management skills, with the ability to understand and anticipate client needs. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and provide strategic insights. 
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to drive commercial team members persuasively. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
