Job description

Job Summary: 

At IGS, a Biogas Electrician is responsible for performing a wide variety of activities associated with the safe and efficient construction of assets that IGS is building. This is a unique role where you can leverage a wide array of skills, working with a small, high-performance, nimble team that specializes primarily in building Biogas facilities at farms in Ohio and Indiana. Responsibilities will include performing a variety of skilled tasks such as operating construction equipment, installing electrical conduit, pulling power and signal cable, terminating motors and instrumentation, and troubleshooting electrical issues. The ideal candidate must be prepared to be on the road traveling and in hotels for weeks at a time (home weekends) and have a well-rounded background assisting in all construction trades, specifically the Electrical trades.  IGS utilizes sub-contracted electrical companies so your role will be in assisting these trades as needed as well as ensuring the quality of work being provided by others.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review electrical drawings and site-specific designs to prepare for construction.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, ammeters, volt meters, cable tracers, etc. as required.
  • Install electrical equipment necessary for RNG construction projects, including DC/AC wiring, junction boxes, conduit, VFDs, disconnects, etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues with new and existing systems.
  • Assist or consult in the electrical scope of work to keep advancing the construction schedule.
  • Help to ensure that electrical subcontractors are performing the electrical scope of work in accordance with project drawings and pertinent electrical code.
  • Operate forklifts, skid loaders, mini-excavators and other equipment as directed by management. Strong knowledge and understanding of the safe use of various construction tools/equipment is desired.
  • Assist in developing solutions related to construction challenges that may be presented on site.
  • In partnership with Electrical and Construction Managers, as well as the Quality Engineering Manager, ensure installations are of high quality and consistent with industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable construction site, taking pride in your work.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and construction trades, methods, and techniques.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Other tasks in support of IGS business as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting heavy items.  Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, safety harness, gas monitors, etc.).

Work Schedule

This position offers a regular scheduled 4 weekday work week, with a 10-hour day shift.  Weather may impact which days of the week are worked.  Overtime and extended shifts available and/or required from time to time. The ideal candidate for this position will live in or close to Fort Wayne, Indiana. This

geographic location is within roughly 30 min to 1.5 hours from most locations we are building over the next several years and would significantly reduce the amount of overnight hotel stays required.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the electrical trades.
  • Must have knowledge in industrial electrical building codes.
  • Strong understanding of various construction trades.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be skilled in the use of heavy construction machinery, hand, and power tools.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints, drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Applicant must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Salary Range:

$58,820.00 - $94,110.00

*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.

This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance.
