Job Summary

The Stratascale engineering team builds customer-facing software solutions that help enterprises address Automation, DevOps, FinOps, APM, and other needs. The Cloud Engineer builds highly scalable, fault-tolerant, elastic, and secure services in AWS, Azure, WAF, and GCP that support these solutions.

This position will report to the Practice Manager - Network Security Operations within Cybersecurity Managed Services.

This position is remote with a Home Office setup as determined by Stratascale management.

Responsibilities

Include, but not limited to:

  • Design and implement IaaS and PaaS cloud services for test, development, staging, and production environments
  • Implement automation to provision, configure, and manage infrastructure, services, and endpoints
  • Implement infrastructure monitoring and APM solutions such as DataDog, ELK, Grafana+Prometheus, New Relic, and Dynatrace
  • Develop threat models to ensure services are secure and meet compliance standards
  • Maintain knowledge of current and future cloud technologies
  • Be on-call for services that the team owns


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating distributed complex software systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with DevOps software development methods
  • Experience with Web Application Firewall


Required Skills

  • Experience with Compute, Database, Storage, Networking, and Security services in at least one of the major cloud providers; AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with automation tools like CircleCI, GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins
  • Experience with Linux CLI as well as knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON, Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform, Boto3
  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, Tanzu, Rancher, Nomad, AKS, ECS, EKS, or GKE
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborative with other internal departments
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology environment


Preferred:

  • Experience supporting mission critical, 24x7 systems
  • Experience working with Azure
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks
  • Demonstrated proficiency with at least one modern general-purpose programming language like Java, C++, Go, Python, etc.
  • Experience with event driven architectures and serverless technologies like Amazon API Gateway and AWS Lambda
  • Experience maintaining Microsoft Front Door WAF
  • Experience with CMP tools like CloudBolt, Morpheus, or RightScale
  • Experience with Cost Optimization tools like CloudHealth, Cloudability, CloudCheckr, Flexera One, or Spot Cloud Analyzer


Certifications Required

If one of the mandatory certifications is not currently held the successful candidate will be required to obtain at least one within 90 days of commencing the role:

  • AWS Solution Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect


Preferred:

  • Additional Industry Cloud Technology Certifications


Unique Requirements

  • Position requires travel to attend conferences and occasional offsite meetings (10%)


Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $240,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
