The Role

As a Senior Design Engineer at AVK, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced control systems for data centres and other industrial applications, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client specifications. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across Europe, and have direct involvement in the commissioning, testing, and acceptance phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate PLC/SCADA-based control systems for data centres and other industrial environments.
• Develop and maintain automation software to enhance system functionality and performance.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project solutions meet technical and operational requirements.
• Ensure safety systems are in place and conduct risk assessments to comply with relevant safety standards.
• Oversee budget control, labour and material acquisition for projects.
• Manage multiple projects, delivering them on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual specifications.
• Lead the commissioning of control systems, including performance testing, and conduct factory and site acceptance tests.
• Develop and maintain project-specific engineering documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in control systems, including the design and integration of PLC and SCADA systems (Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider).
• Proven experience with data centre power solutions.
• Ability to develop software for automation projects.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and their integration with PLC hardware/software.
• Ability to work with technical documentation and read/amend electrical drawings.
• Experience with industrial Ethernet networks (desired).
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work out of hours when required and travel throughout Europe as needed.
• Degree, HNC, HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a similar
