The Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, Americas plays a strategic role in the execution of EdgeConneX’s global expansion plans.  The position requires a blend of analytical, creative thinking, and relationship building skills to assess opportunities and develop recommendations that align with the Company’s growth objectives. The successful candidate will manage and drive the Engineering for new locations and provide technical advice as a subject matter expert to facilitate Executive Management’s decision-making on large-scale projects in support of EdgeConneX’s Regional expansion plans. 

The Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, Americas will work with EdgeConneX’s Real Estate, Site Development, and Engineering to advise on technical aspects of various potential projects and support critical development activities such as power, entitlement, permitting, concept designs, and budgeting. The job’s duties will include visiting new properties under consideration and in due diligence to determine their environmental and physical qualities, identify technical difficulties that a buildout on that property may encounter, assess development risks, and recommend mitigating strategies -- often preparing and presenting Property Development Plans. The successful candidate is a quick, critical thinker with great project management skills, substantial technical knowledge, and possess an extensive network of contractors, consultants, and other resources that would make it possible to get properties development and construction ready quickly and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support new site assessment and validation for new data center developments.
  • Provide initial test-fits and conceptual designs.
  • Support discussions with local Utilities.
  • Support our Partners and Consultants on Entitlement and Permitting.
  • Review and assess Due Diligence Findings.
  • Identify Project Risks and Mitigating strategies.
  • Compile and present reports explaining project details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support discussions with local and regional authorities and government bodies.
  • Develop initial Project Schedules and support initial Budgeting estimates.
  • Report on project status, risk, and progress.
  • Identify and leverage Contractor and Partner networks in Market and in Region that can help expedite new developments.
  • Prepare high-level Project Development Plans that chart and identify critical activities through designing, building, and operating Data Center facilities on site.

  • Superb time management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, its people, and the host of responsibilities that come with it.

  • Executive-level presentations skills, both writing and presenting. Proficient knowledge of computer environment including Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Experience/Education

  • 5+ years of relevant Construction and Development experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architectural, Civil Engineering, or MEP, with Development background required. 
  • Thorough Understanding of Electrical & Mechanical Systems in a Data Center will help you succeed in this role.
  • Candidates with strong knowledge and experience in hyperscale data center design and construction, and those with experience in Data Center Development, Industrial Construction, and/or the Telecommunication industry are highly encouraged to apply.

 

US Salary Range
$160,000$180,000 USD
