The Role

Avanos is seeking a motivated  in-house Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team.  As a key member of our team, you will play an integral role in providing legal counsel and support across various aspects of our business.   The position can be fully remote or based in Alpharetta, Georgia

 

Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on strategic initiatives and enabling tactical execution compliant with laws and regulations relating to medical device companies.

  • Inspire confidence and trust, make practical recommendations to business partners that strike the appropriate risk/reward balance.

  • Assist with responding to requests from government regulatory agencies around the world, including the US FDA, and advocate on behalf of the company to those agencies.

  • Provide legal advice to ensure compliance with FDA and FTC regulations, including product claim substantiation and advise on issues related to fraud and abuse laws.

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with customers, group purchasing organizations, distributors, and others who buy, sell, distribute, and market our products.

  • Keep abreast of pertinent changes to the business or legal and regulatory requirements, anticipate issues that may arise from such changes and demonstrate initiative and creativity in developing business-oriented solutions.

  • Provide counsel on dispute resolution, including litigation.

  • Provide work direction to other legal staff, such as outside counsel, contract attorneys, and to paralegals.

  • Provide such other legal services as may be required for a publicly-traded global medical device company.

 

Your Qualifications

Required

  • J.D. degree and a member in good standing of at least one USA state bar.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience practicing as an attorney, including at least 2 years as an in-house attorney in a medical device company.

  • Must possess superior organizational & time-management skills.

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills.

  • Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with employees at all levels throughout organization.

  • Analytical with an ability to present complex matters simply and clearly.

  • Strategic, innovative, proactive and creative.

  • Efficient, energetic and able to manage a heavy and diverse workload.

  • Practical, and appropriate tolerance for risk.
