Content Editor (German)
Overview
We're seeking a skilled Content Editor to join our team in ensuring the excellence of our award-winning Hyperclass lessons, which received the 2022 British Council ELTon Award for Innovation in Digital Education. In this role, you'll review and refine CEFR-aligned, one-to-one German lessons that focus on enhancing learners' communicative skills. Collaborating closely with Learning Designers, you'll ensure content quality, coherence, and pedagogical alignment, while working with classroom interaction templates and digital tools. This remote position offers flexible hours and the chance to shape high-quality digital classroom experiences.
Location: UK / Europe / North America / South America / Asia / Australasia.
This role requires remote work from your own location, with reliable access to high-speed internet.
Role and Responsibilities
You will:
- Ensure content quality: Review and enhance lesson content created for one-to-one online German classes, ensuring it is engaging, CEFR-level appropriate, and meets the project's specific learning goals.
- Oversee lesson briefs: Evaluate and provide feedback on lesson briefs developed by Learning Designers, including opening activities, practice scenes, and speaking tasks, ensuring they align with pedagogical standards and learner needs.
- Collaborate with the design team: Work with the Learning Designers and design team to ensure that the final content is accurately represented in classroom interactions and backgrounds, using provided templates in Figma.
- Facilitate feedback and revisions: Initiate and manage feedback from stakeholders, including learners and other team members, and provide constructive feedback to Learning Designers to refine and improve lesson content.
- Conduct pedagogical reviews: Perform thorough reviews of content at various stages (draft and final) to ensure consistency with curriculum objectives, market needs, and suitability for online delivery.
- Support content development: Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of digital classroom content, making recommendations for improvements based on pedagogical research and learner feedback.
- Maintain project documentation: Keep accurate records of content revisions, feedback, and project progress. Attend and contribute to project meetings as required.
This role will be available for an initial period of 2-3 months and will require a minimum availability of 20-25 hours per week with the potential to extend the contract. Remuneration is project-based.
About You
You will be:
- Committed to high-quality content: Dedicated to refining and delivering lesson content that meets the real-world needs of our learners and adheres to CEFR and syllabus guidelines.
- Experienced with CEFR: Proficient in applying CEFR standards to develop and review level-appropriate content for adult learners.
- Detail-oriented: Driven to ensure content is polished, pedagogically sound, and ready for effective classroom use, within time and budget constraints.
- Enthusiastic about digital tools: Excited to work with advanced content management systems and design tools like Figma.
- Adaptable to remote collaboration: Comfortable working with a globally distributed team in a digital environment.
Additionally, you will have:
- Strong background in educational content: Solid knowledge of course development processes, particularly for language learning, and experience in digital classroom content development.
- Teaching or development experience: Experience as a classroom teacher, instructor, or in materials development for language learning.
- Relevant qualifications: Degrees or certifications in language teaching, applied linguistics, educational technology, or related fields.
- Proficiency in German and English: C2 proficiency in German and C1 (or above) proficiency in English.
